Bryant Grove Trail, page 2

Trail Notes

The Park does not allow dogs on the Bryant Grove or Couchville Lake Trails. The rest of the Park is dog friendly.

The trail is mostly an easy, gravel path with benches.

crossing a field

The trail is generally wide enough to walk two abreast.

At the other end of the trail was Bryant Grove, a little over four miles from the start. There is a wonderful, freshly painted, heated restroom and a well kept picnic grounds. The restrooms are across the road and up a slight hill.

Because the trail does not loop, we returned on the same out and back trail. Soon we were back at the parking area. This easy trail made for a fast walk.

We met runners, fitness walkers, and a photogapher using the trail.

The Bryant Grove Trail was, unfortunately, noisy (we assume) from the boaters on the lake. We only heard the noises, we never actually saw the boats.

There was a lot of lake litter (not caused by hikers.)

The trail may seem hard to follow in the open areas. Look for trail indicators such as rocks lining the path and down trees positioned to block old roads not used by the trail.

One side of the mileage posts had the mileage from Couchville Lake and the other side has mileage from Bryant Grove.

mile 0

Oddly enough, the 4 mile marker from Couchville Lake is marked as mile "0" from Bryant Grove. I just thought that was funny, maybe I am walking too many trails.

The Park Rangers have probably had to drive hikers back to their cars who were unaware that the trail was 8 miles out and back. Hence, the two signs to warn hikers.

The trail may be walked in either direction (using Bryant Grove as the trailhead instead.)

The mileage posts matched my GPS exactly. It was almost eerie.

The Park’s facilities were well maintained.
